Great Get Together update

events
On 18 June 2017 Chorlton Central Church hosted a community picnic as part of The Great Get Together, one of many local events inspired by the words of the late Jo Cox MP; " we have more in common that that which separates us"

The Banner on the Church frontage was made during a community workshop in advance of the day - our thanks to everyone who came along and painted a letter !

Prior to the Great Get Together, and in response to the bombing at Manchester Arena, Chorlton Central Church we decided at our AGM to write to reassure the members of two local Mosques. on behalf of the Church Meeting, our joint secretaries wrote:

On behalf of the Annual General Meeting of Chorlton Central Church meeting today, we want you to know that our Muslim sisters and brothers are in our thoughts and prayers especially in the light of recent events. We share your sadness and horror that such atrocities are carried out in the name of religion.

Please be assured of our love and support at this time, especially as you observe Ramadan.

yours sincerely

Dear Revd Dr Lesley Husselbee

We hope this letter reaches you in the best of health.

Firstly, on behalf of Jameah Masjid E Noor, we would like to show our appreciation and gratitude towards you for your letter.

This has been a difficult time for all of us in light of the horrific and heartbreaking events that have recently taken place in our city and country, contaminating the name of religion and causing much devastation.

To receive your words, and to know that our differences in faith cannot prevent us from being united in minds and hearts, is very overwhelming. we are full of hope that our community will stand together against such attacks, as practitioners of faiths, as citizens of this country, and as human beings.

Thank you very much for your support.

Yours sincerely,

Imam Yusuf Chunara      Mr Abubakr Chunara MBE
